Sponsored by IATEFL Learner Autonomy SIG, the SWON (formerly SWAN) one-day conference was hosted by the Open University, Milton Keynes. SWON is a network of academics and research students at the universities of Sheffield, Warwick, Nottingham and the Open University, who share an interest in researching and promoting autonomy in language learning.The 2009 event entitled 'Autonomy in a connected world' featured presentations by three invited speakers and a number of researchers from the Open University. In addition there were eleven poster presentations.
